Meet our 2024 Bali students!

At YogaKoh, we understand the immense power of the people you surround yourself with. We pride ourselves on fostering a beautiful Koh-mmunity of learners, travelers, innovators, seekers, and believers, and understand the value of lessons taught by each unique student and teacher. With that being said, we are so grateful to introduce our 2024 Bali Sea-to-Sky 200hr YTT students to you!

Meet May! She is from Taiwan, but currently lives in Canada, and has been practicing on and off for around 20 years!

What is your favorite yoga pose?

She likes it and dislikes it at the same time: chair pose!

Why did you choose YogaKoh to complete your 200hr YTT?

Although May had a hard time picking which teacher training would be right for her, with the help of her yoga teacher and her husband, she narrowed it down to three options – eventually deciding that YogaKoh was the very best!

What are you hoping to gain from this experience?

May hopes to master how to be a professional yoga teacher, learning from her classmates and teachers. She was drawn to designing classes, and with the guidance of the lead instructor, Bruce, May hopes to become an expert yoga teacher!

What kind of teacher are you hoping to become?

May would like to become a teacher that can give very clear instructions, showing her students how to correctly execute their postures and poses, while being a warm and friendly teacher. She admires teachers who care about their students, and plans on becoming a leader who improves her students’ practice!

We can't wait to watch you thrive, May!

Meet Phoebe! She is from the United Kingdom and has been practicing for 5 years!

What is your favorite yoga pose?

Cat pulling its tail – it’s both relaxing and challenging, and she loves the feeling of multiple deep stretches at once! Phoebe also loves cats!

Why did you choose YogaKoh to complete your 200hr YTT?

One of Phoebe’s favorite aspects of yoga is the sense of community it provides, and with YogaKoh’s emphasis on our Koh-mmunity, the friendliness of the course, and the connections of the people within, there was only one right choice!

What are you hoping to gain from this experience?

Phoebe is very focused on personal development, connecting more with others and herself, as well as gaining the confidence to passionately teach what she loves!

What kind of teacher are you hoping to become?

Phoebe hopes to be a nurturing and holistic teacher, helping people build their yoga practice from all directions throughout the whole of their life – not just on the mat!

We are excited to watch you flourish, Phoebe!

Meet Kat! She is from Australia and has been practicing for 9 years!

What is your favorite yoga pose?

Trikonasana, also known as extended Triangle pose, because it strengthens and stretches her body, allowing her to feel powerful!

Why did you choose YogaKoh to complete your 200hr YTT?

Along with heaping support from her studio’s community back home, Kat’s yoga teacher, Phoebe, taught with YogaKoh and deeply inspired her to choose this training!

What are you hoping to gain from this experience?

Knowledge, growth, and to deepen her practice!

What kind of teacher are you hoping to become?

Kat hopes to be an inspiring teacher, one who creates a welcoming community. She promises to always be intentional in her classes and show up authentically for her students. Aiming to be approachable and someone who is always there to provide support and encouragement, Kat wants to guide students to reach their full potential while maintaining dedication to improving her personal practice!

We are thrilled to watch you grow, Kat!

Meet Carissa! She is from the United States and has been practicing for about 2 years!

What is your favorite yoga pose?

Childs pose! It’s the best for when she needs a break, but she still wants to feel active in her practice!

Why did you choose YogaKoh to complete your 200hr YTT?

Carissa initially wanted to do her training in New Zealand, so she looked up companies and found YogaKoh – it was the first one that popped up! She checked out our New Zealand training, but unfortunately the dates didn’t align with her schedule. Carissa explored other teacher trainings; however, the companies didn’t seem as genuine or informational. After looking at our Instagram, she knew what she was getting with YogaKoh. The Bali dates were exactly what she needed, and Carissa was all in!

woman in warrior two pose

What are you hoping to gain from this experience?

As a person who has never been overseas prior, Carissa is here to gain more life experience, and through this training, she aspires to become more confident and trusting in herself. She wants to believe in herself and learn to trust her own intuition. Carissa hopes to walk away from her training feeling 100% confident that anything she wants to do in life, she can do it!

What kind of teacher are you hoping to become?

Someone who inspires her students. Carissa does not want to be a teacher who simply goes through the motions, but to be a leader who gives more information on what yoga is besides the poses. She hopes to provide her students with the knowledge of what more yoga can add into their lives, and how much more peace and clarity it can bring them through their practice of the asanas!

We look forward to watching you shine, Carissa!

Meet Blandine! She is from France and has been practicing for 6 years!

What is your favorite yoga pose?

Blandine enjoys the Eagle position!

Why did you choose YogaKoh to complete your 200hr YTT?

Back in France, Blandine’s former teacher was a part of the YogaKoh team, so she knew the training she would receive would be high quality. After talking with our founder, Jolie, Blandine knew she made the right decision!

What are you hoping to gain from this experience?

As well as deepening her practice, Blandine hopes to gain confidence in herself, build mental and physical strength, and follow her path towards serenity!

What kind of teacher are you hoping to become?

Blandine wants to help her students to love yoga the way that she does, and to guide her students towards finding their own path through the practice of yoga.

We are eager to watch your success, Blandine!

man in black tank top

Meet Leo! He is from Australia, has been practicing Bikram yoga for 17 years, and has been exploring Vinyasa for around 10 months!

What is your favorite yoga pose?

Prasarita Padottanasana, the wide leg fold posture!

Why did you choose YogaKoh to complete your 200hr YTT?

It was synchronicity that brought Leo and YogaKoh together. He had just made the decision to change the direction he wanted to take for his next journey, and the very next day, YogaKoh was there, waiting for him to join and embark on this path! He is beyond grateful for this spontaneous connection!

man in triangle pose

What are you hoping to gain from this experience?

Leo craves a deeper understanding of yoga philosophy. He wants to explore how to use yoga to create a deep therapeutic response in students, and to strengthen his own practice.

What kind of teacher are you hoping to become?

Although Leo already instructs Bikram yoga, from this training he aspires to transform into a teacher with a deeper level of understanding of what he is doing and why. Leo is motivated by the impacts he could bring to both sick and well people, and the guidance he can provide to people who want to get stronger, as well as people who are looking for a more connected relationship to their healing.

We can't wait to see all you accomplish, Leo!
