Although the New Year sometimes feels overwhelming and hectic, we like to think of it as the perfect opportunity to reset and prepare for success in the months ahead. With friends to connect with, family to see, and trips to book, it can be a lot to organize – our pro tip is to start small.
Clearing out and organizing your physical spaces is a great way to set a productive tone, find mental clarity, and feel ready to tackle the larger, more daunting tasks. Here are our five easy ways to declutter for 2025!
Your phone
Go through your notes app (grocery lists, packing lists, etc.) and delete any unnecessary notes. Same goes for your emails – unsubscribe to anything you don’t read or immediately trash! Deleting unused apps, random photos, or any other junk in your phone will help you to feel instantly more organized and on top of it!Â
Your junk drawer
Here’s our low hanging fruit … your junk drawer. All those batteries, miscellaneous tools, chargers, random post-its, receipts, band-aids – let's find a place for them! Maybe you designate a drawer or bin just for your electronics, all medicinal items go to your bathroom, and you set up a small desk area for pens and notepads. Think about combining like with like, instead of throwing them all in one miscellaneous mess!Â
Your closet
Golden rule: if you haven’t worn it in the past year, it should go (obviously with the exception of very sentimental items, family heirlooms, etc.). We recommend taking unwanted clothing and accessories to your local donation center, or sell them to second hand stores for credit or some quick cash!
Your calendar
Sit down with your 2025 calendar and assess: prioritize important tasks for you, set attainable goals for yourself, and eliminate unwanted commitments. Be sure to set aside time for self-care and relaxation – taking care of your mental and physical health is the best way to set yourself up for a successful year!Â
Your kitchen
Clear out your dust bunnies, scrub your counters, and set your oven to wash mode! It’s time for a deep cleanse of your fridge and pantry – let’s throw out those expired condiments and foods hiding in the back of your cabinets, replace your baking soda, and donate kitchen tools you don’t use. Similar to your junk drawer, it’s all about organization. Everything has a place!
Start small and stay consistent, and you'll be amazed at how much lighter and more intentional your life feels. At the end of the day, it's about creating room for peace and joy in your life. By freeing places like your closet or your calendar, you’re ditching unnecessary stress and distractions to make time for what truly matters to you!
