YogaKoh teacher trainings follow the highest standard in yoga education. They are designed to help you understand and reach your highest potential. This three month weekend format training offers a certification at the 200hr level that enables you to register as an internationally-recognized yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance. So what is yoga? And what does it really mean to say you practice yoga?
In three months we will take an introspective look into those questions by exploring all the different layers of the practice.
The training is focused on the Vinyasa format of sequencing but draws much of its teachings from traditional Ashtanga, Hatha and Iyengar lineages. The teaching team on this training, are true professionals in their field, and along with a team of qualified and experienced guest lecturers you can expect a gifted group of yogis to lead you through this journey.
The training will be held at Freeliving Studio, located in Palm Beach, Queensland. Meet Your Head Teacher:
Melissa hails from a small town in the heart of South-Africa, where she grew up listening to the sounds of airplane motors and native wildlife, living on an airfield in the middle of the African bush. Her appreciation for life and it's many blessings started a young age, seeing first-hand the devastation disunity, racism and poverty caused the people of her birth-country. At around 12, her family uprooted and moved to Australia, giving her a first-glimpse of life as a foreigner, and the ecstasy of understanding a new culture, and new country. It was this first great travel, that sparked her desire to quit her job as a news journalist and begin travelling the world. At 19, she moved to the mountains of Mexico to study cross-cultural communication and Spanish for a year. A few years later she made a last-minute decision to follow her heart, quit her full-time job at an Australian newspaper and pursue a life of freelance travel writing, where she could couple her love of culture, surfing and sharing yoga to see more of the world. This decision saw her teaching surfing and yoga, and combining her love for these two practices in magical places such as Mexico, Costa Rica, the Maldives and Bali.
Her yoga education first began in Costa Rica where she underwent weeks of self-study and mentorship with yogi Joe Tuplin in Santa Teresa, and her surfing experience surpasses over a decade of instruction at some of the best surf school's in Australia. She explored many different styles of yoga including Jivamukti, Tantra, Iyengar and Ashtanga before deciding to undergo a formal 200RYT training, specialising in traditional Hatha and Ashtanga yoga in Rishikesh, India. Later, after working as the resident yoga and surf instructor/guide for a resort in the Maldives, Mel took on the opportunity to assist Jolie Manza in her first Vinyasa focused training at the Power of Now Oasis in Bali.
Since then, Mel has worked as a yoga teacher, and retreat facilitator/manager for one of Asia's most sought-after and longest running female retreats before taking a break to have a baby girl, and enter into the very exciting world of motherhood. She now hopes to continue sharing her love for the ocean, yoga, and mindful living to help others looking to embark on a similar path of freedom in their lives.

My experience with the YogaKoh teacher training has been absolutely amazing thanks to the great person and teachers of this course. They have made sure that everyone felt super comfortable the whole training and that we were ready to teach a yoga class at the end of the course. I would recommend to everyone to take a YTT with YoagKoh - it has been a life changer for me!
I feel so privileged to have trained with YogaKoh. The people that work there are beautiful souls committed to supporting the students throughout and it was always a pleasure to arrive knowing who was going to be greeting you each day and the space one was going to inhabit for that time.
My 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training with YogaKoh was one of the best experiences of my life. My head teachers were superb, the best I could ever have asked for. I learnt an incredible amount in such a short space of time with her lead and feel 100% competent and confident to teach Yoga. The staff were incredibly professional, helpful, hospitable and overall completed my incredible experience. I will be forever grateful for the time I spent with all of them and for the work they put in to make the studio so accommodating for our Yoga Teacher Training.
